Youth Worker Support Volunteer

Youth Workers can have a powerful influence on a young person. They can shape their outlook and provide them with new opportunities which can change the course of their life. YMCA MK is growing a team of inspiring youth work volunteers who are excited by supporting staff to harness and develop a young person’s potential. Youth Work Volunteers will support staff to lead community programmes aimed at young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Through these programmes, they will empower young people to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs; building their confidence and life skills.

Become a Volunteer Youth Mentor

Since 2021, Youth Mentors have supported young people to realise their potential and achieve their goals on behalf of YMCA Milton Keynes. 100% of the young people asked said they found this support helpful. Due to the success of the programme, we are looking for new Youth Mentors to continue the great work we do with children and young adults across Milton Keynes, to divert them from youth violence and to build their self-esteem.

Become a Volunteer Translator

YMCA MK welcome young people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, embracing what makes us unique and fostering a sense of community. We are looking for a team of bilingual volunteers to help young people with English as a second language, to receive vital information and be heard. As a Volunteer Translator, you’ll contribute significantly to making information accessible, inclusive, and useful to people who need that information in their language.

They’ll look to you for guidance about how to get the most out of YMCA support. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide comfort and reassurance to a young person, welcoming them to their new home and encouraging them to be a part of the YMCA community.

Become a Fundraising Volunteer

At YMCA MK we are passionate in supporting young people in our community. Our Fundraising Volunteers are a point of contact and friendly face out in our community, supporting us at events, sharing the support we offer to young people and how fundraising makes a difference. From schools, to local businesses, helping raise awareness and much needed funds so that we can be there for young people when they need us. No experience is needed, we will offer full guidance and support and opportunities that fit around you!

Become a Volunteer Activities Assistant

At YMCA MK we know the importance of physical and therapeutic activities in promoting mental wellbeing and self-esteem. Our activities timetable is packed with sports clubs and long-term projects such as marathons and mountain climbing. We also deliver cookery sessions and arts & crafts with our residents. We are looking for someone to support our staff to deliver the high-quality activities our residents deserve. There is no obligation to commit to both physical and therapeutic activities, you can support with the activities that fit your interests and skillset.

Become a Volunteer Driver

YMCA MK takes a person-centred approach to caring for our residents, this includes emotional and practical support. We are seeking volunteers to provide transport to some of our residents to attend their health appointments. Become a Resident Welcomer
