YMCA South Midlands Merger FAQ

We’ve been proudly serving Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire for years but we’ve decided it’s time to stop running as two separate charities and come together as one.

The merger is a proactive, strategic step so we can support more people and run our services more effectively. By joining forces, we can share expertise and deliver better outcomes for the people we support. We already share the same missions and values, and these will remain unchanged.

No. Our mission, values, and commitment remain the same. The merger allows us to deliver our shared goals more effectively.

All existing grants will be honoured in full, and we will continue to deliver agreed work exactly as planned.

Yes, our charity will now be called YMCA South Midlands. Our governance structure will change in that there will now be one board for YMCA South Midlands, but all trustees will remain in place.

No. All current commitments remain in place. Future projects will benefit from a larger, more resilient organisation with expanded expertise.

The legal merger will be completed by Wednesday 1 April. Most systems and processes will remain the same, but full integration is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.

From Wednesday 1 April 2026, as part of this change, the way we look after your information will stay the same, but it will now be held by YMCA South Midlands instead of the individual local charities. There’s nothing you need to do, and you’ll continue to hear from us just as you do now in accordance with your wishes.
