Without Preston’s commitment, dedication, skill, knowledge and good humoured challenge and support there wouldn’t be a YMCA in Milton Keynes, or in Northamptonshire. For 37-years his astute financial oversight enabled us to do what we do best in supporting young people who need us to belong, contribute, and thrive.

It was an honour to know Preston, and to work alongside him, and during our most challenging times, when we were managing huge risk in a bold venture to reinvent ourselves and transform our services Preston was there, humbly but hugely effectively helping us, and particularly me along when I felt so very out of my depth.

Preston was a gentleman, and a role model. I was privileged to have known him, will always remember him, and he will continue to act as a role model to me for many years to come.

Rest in peace Preston and thank you,

Simon x

Preston interviewed me for my first job as a graduate trainee at Grant Thornton in 1989. A lovely man to work with for years afterwards and our paths crossed even after his retirement during his tireless efforts supporting the Extramile challenge and occasionally just out and about in the community. A sad loss, condolences to Pauline, Alan and family.

Such a sad loss. Preston’s leadership as Treasurer, his commitment to young people and his unwavering support for staff shaped YMCA Milton Keynes in countless ways. I was fortunate to work with him early in my career, and his wisdom and kindness stayed with me. We are truly grateful for all he did for this community. He will be greatly missed.
