On May 7 Lynn will begin her epic journey cycling 2,000 miles unsupported across the five nations to raise funds and awareness for YMCA Milton Keynes, a charity that has played a significant role in her life. At 17, with few options and no real support system, Lynn moved into the YMCA in Bletchley. Back then, it was little more than a roof over her head — no guidance, no structure, and no one to turn to. She learned tough life lessons quickly and on her own.
Now, over 40 years later, Lynn volunteers with the YMCA through their Hospital Navigation Scheme, supporting young people in schools and in the community. She has witnessed first-hand how the organisation has transformed—not just in its buildings, but in the care, structure, and genuine support it offers to young residents.
Lynn’s challenge isn’t just about the miles — it’s about honouring how far the YMCA has come, and helping to ensure it can continue providing life-changing opportunities to its residents. Through this journey, she hopes to inspire others to get involved, raise vital funds and support both the residents and the staff who make such a difference every day.
Be part of Lynn’s incredible journey by joining our virtual challenge! As she cycles 2,000 miles across the five nations, we’ll unite as a community to match her miles in solidarity. Ride, run, row, or walk ‘alongside’ her—and help spread the word, share her story, and raise vital funds to support YMCA MK. Every mile counts!
