Amber experienced severe social anxiety and hadn’t left the house in over three years. After being hospitalised following a suicide attempt, she was later diagnosed with autism. At her lowest point, struggling with confidence and hope, Amber was referred into our mentoring scheme.
Through consistent, compassionate support, Amber began to build trust and rediscover her strengths. Step by step, she found the confidence to re-engage with the world.

YMCA has helped me gain confidence and strength, I can now do things I thought I couldn’t do before. With their help, I can now communicate better with people and I volunteer which will help me move towards work.
