We’re excited to share that YMCA Milton Keynes and YMCA Northamptonshire are coming together to form YMCA South Midlands – creating a stronger organisation to support young people across our region.
Live from Wednesday 1 April, this merger brings together our experience, shared values and our passion for helping young people belong, contribute and thrive.
By coming together as one team, we’ll be able to reach more young people, grow our services and invest even more into the support we provide every day.
What won’t change is what matters most: helping every young person build the foundations they need for a positive future. A safe home. People they can trust. Support that helps them grow in confidence and fulfil their potential. That’s at the heart of everything we do at YMCA.
Jennifer Walker, Chair of YMCA South Midlands, said:
“Becoming YMCA South Midlands represents a significant step forward in strengthening both our governance and our capacity to deliver on our organisational purpose. By uniting our boards and bringing together our collective expertise, we are creating a governance structure that is clearer, stronger, and better equipped to guide us into the future.
“At the heart of this merger is our drive to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive place where young people can build their independence to belong, contribute and thrive. By combining our resources and aligning our vision, we are ensuring that YMCA South Midlands is not only resilient but positioned to make an even greater impact across our region.
“This is more than an administrative change – it is a renewed commitment to good governance, shared values, and the young people we are here to serve.”
Simon Green, CEO of YMCA South Midlands, said:
“We’ve been proudly serving Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire for years – but we’ve decided it’s time to come together as one organisation.
“By joining forces, we can do even more for the people who rely on us. This merger brings our teams, services and communities into one stronger organisation, helping us support more young people and families across the region.
“Our focus remains entirely on improving outcomes for the young people and communities we serve, and together we can go further for those who need us most.”
This next chapter builds on strong foundations. In Milton Keynes alone, we’ve supported more than 11,000 young people since 1981 – offering not just a place to live, but practical, emotional and employment support to help them move forward with confidence.
