This March marks a significant milestone for YMCA Milton Keynes as we celebrate 5 years since opening our doors to local young people in our brand-new campus. Since 2020, hundreds of young individuals facing homelessness have found a safe place to call home and support at YMCA MK.
Over the past five years, we’ve expanded our community impact through:
Reflecting on this achievement, our CEO, Simon Green, shared:
“I can’t quite believe that it’s been 5 years since we moved into the campus—time really flies when you’re having fun! It hasn’t always been an easy ride – we moved in a week before the first lockdown, but gradually, through the collective efforts of our fantastic staff team, trustees, volunteers, partners, supporters in the wider community, and our residents and the other young people we support themselves, we’ve created a fabulous place for young people to live, and where the whole community can support young people. We are proud of the many services we provide and the high and aspirational quality of these, and most of all the culture we have developed which is all about being friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and inspiring young people to belong, contribute and thrive. If you haven’t visited the campus yet, come see us – whether at our amazing HomeGround Café, or one of our Community Lunches. I am so proud of our team and am delighted to celebrate what we have achieved over the past 5 years.”
To commemorate this achievement, we’re hosting a special 5th Birthday Community Lunch on Thursday, 20th March, at 12:00 PM. This free event is open to all, providing an opportunity for the local community to come together and celebrate our shared success.
As we look forward to the next five years, we remain committed to helping young people in Milton Keynes belong, contribute, and thrive. Join us in celebrating this milestone and the positive change we’ve brought to our community!
