Tour de Y 1844 Challenge: 23 – 26 September 2015
With three challenging and exciting routes to choose from the Tour de Y 1844 Challenge is for cycling enthusiasts wanting to push themselves beyond the typical single day event.
The start venues will be:
- YMCA Lakeside – a stunning venue on the shores of Windermere in the Lake District national park
- Angel of the North – one of the most recognisable pieces of public art in the country and sited in the beautiful county of Tyne and Wear
- YMCA Cornwall – we will begin from Penzance, almost as far south west as you can go and a traditional start venue for long distance bikes rides
All routes are roughly 360 miles and will take 4 days to reach Central YMCA in central London, one of the world’s great capital cities.
Along the way we will take in areas of the country renowned for their scenic beauty including Dartmoor, North Dorset Downs, the New Forest, Lincolnshire Wolds, Cambridgeshire Fens and the Cotswolds.
There is an entry fee of £300. This will cover 5 nights accommodation (22nd-26th inc), breakfast, refreshments during the day, support vans, event jersey and medal. The rider will be liable for travel costs to the start location and travel back home from the end destination as well as being liable for their own evening meals and drinks bills.
Each rider will be asked to raise a minimum of £750 sponsorship which will go to YMCA projects supporting young people in crisis.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and is secured through the payment of a £150 deposit. Please complete the online entry form.
